REFRESHING IN WHITE

I have literally thousands of flowers in bloom in my yard right now and dozens of vases.  But I find this Queen Anne's Lace in a vintage canning jar  set on the window ledge, just the perfect arrangement for these hot days.

  2. Queen Anne's Lace grows wild here. It is so lovely!

  3. They grow wild here too, Shara. But I encourage them to grow in my cottage garden in the back of the garage.

  4. There are lots of those along the ditches in Iowa - one of my favorite road trip sights! And gathered in a simple jar makes them all the more perfect!

  5. Beauty is all around us if we care to look isn't it Sandy? Lots of tiger lilies and black-eyed Susans this time of year also.

  6. White is beautiful! I just took a picture of my kitchen window with a vase of flowers this a.m.! I was going to post it soon...I am trying to discipline myself to not post so much, don't want to drive anyone crazy. But I just had to chuckle that you have a window and flower posting, not to mention canning when I was also... love, andrea

  7. Isn't it funny how bloggers think alike Andrea? Lots of times I think about posting something and someone else will beat me to the punch and I don't want to look like I'm copying their ideas. Even today I was going to show you all my cute little cup that I picked up at an estate sale. It had the dearest poem on it. But when I looked at Susan Branch's blog, there was the poem! What are the odds?

  8. Beautiful, I love Queen Anne's Lace, at our last place we had it growing every summer, and I just loved it. Very pretty in a canning jar, love it!!

  9. You see, April? You're not the only one that appreciates a good weed!

  10. I agree. It's perfect! I am quite jealous, I'm not crazy with blooms right now. Everything does look beautiful, but I'm a bit week in the cuttings department... but as you've just shown, it only takes one bloom in a canning jar to brighten a window sill!

    Blessings, Debbie

  11. Hi Jane! What a beautiful picture. I have been having trouble getting my comments to go through the last couple of days, so I hope you get this one. The last one I wrote out, went off into Blog Land somewhere. I just love queen anne's lace! It is so delicate. I was thrilled to hear that you have so many flowers in bloom. This time of year I really miss my rose garden that I had in California. I would have vases of roses in every room and went out every evening after dinner to baby the bushes, pick off the dry leaves and water them. Roses don't do well in our climate in this part of Georgia. The only roses that grow well are the old fashioned ragged roses. They hybrid ones are just a little too delicate I guess. Boy has it been hot today! 102 with a 109 heat index. I also loved the post you had on canning. I thought of you yesterday, I made a fresh strawberry pie. I had quite a bit of strawberry sauce left over and was not sure what to do with it. But then it was like I could hear your "Hope and Thrift" voice saying "Save it Delisa, and use it on some biscuits, or pour it over a cake..." :) I hope you are having a good week Jane and are staying cool. Enjoy your beautiful garden! Delisa :)

  12. That's right Debbie. Sometimes plain and simple is the best.

Hi Delisa! I've missed you! Regina wrote to me and told me that she was having problems getting through too. Guess just another problem in the Blogger world. I tried to take some picture of my garden but I kept getting things in the frame like my neighbors garbage cans and weeds. We live on a long narrow lot so it's hard not to get something undesirable into the picture. I like the old roses the best. There's a company located in Texas that takes cuttings from old cemeteries and rescues old forgotten varieties. Most are for warmer climates. Under it's hardy section most are zone 5 and up, we're zone 4! Strawberry pie sounds so good! I'll have to content myself with a piece of bread with jam on it. I'll close my eyes and imagine I'm at your lovely home having a piece of pie with you while I eat it!
