CAN A COMPUTER HAVE A COMA?

Hello dear friends!  I've always said technology acts peculiar around me and my computer is proof.  When it "died" on Sunday we contacted the tech support.  They had us do all sorts of  techniques to get it up and running but to no avail.  They had to admit that it was as dead as a doornail.  The next day I tried to start it, no luck.   So we just left it be while we waited for FedEx to deliver the postage-paid box to send it in to get fixed.  But being the obsessive-compulsive type that I am, it really bothered me that all my passwords would be out there in the open for the people fixing it to read, in spite of their assurance that everything is safe with them.   So before I put it in the box, I gave it one more college try.  And it started right up!   As a matter of fact, it works faster than ever.  I sure hope this doesn't count as a miracle, for I would hate to have one wasted on my cheap little computer!   All in all, living without a computer wasn't so bad, except that I missed reading your blogs and commenting.  Also missed not being able to do my banking., I hardly step into my bank these days. But I did get a lot accomplished without the distraction of YouTube and Sudoku! Anyway, this is a long way of saying I'm back and will be posting on Sunday night as usual.  Hope to see you then!

Hugs

    1. I know! Isn't that the craziest thing? Glad I don't have to borrow my husband's Chrome book anymore. I can't figure that one out at all. And he doesn't have anything bookmarked on it, so I was lost!

  2. Well our monitor went out. I got a bad cold, hubby got kidney stone which put him in the hospital for a night and a day and he finally felt well enough to go out and buy another one today. So glad your computer is alive again and glad that I can now read your next post :) Nannie

    1. Hope you and your husband are feeling better, Nannie. Computers are the most exasperating things! I think they were invented to teach us patience. Well, at least in my case!

  3. Amazin', Jane, just amazin'. I'm glad your computer woes are over. Hopefully they are anyway.

We have a car that won't start and a heat pump that gave up the ghost last night, but life is still pretty good. ;)

    Have a great weekend!

    1. Sorry to read of your car and heat pump woes, Toni. It's always something isn't it? I guess the good Lord wants us to remain humble! Ha! Yeah, I hope the computer woes are over too. I'm keeping the box for a couple of weeks just in case.

      Stay warm!

  4. In answer to your question: YES, a computer can have a coma. Or in the case of my one year old ASUS desk top...several comas, or whatever they call that disorder where you fall asleep randomly!
I had mine all boxed up to go when I had it for only a few months...It began working after making a phone call to the company revealed it would not be repaired for free, and I refused to pay another penny on it...so I unboxed it and it started up. It is a continued problem to this day, and I will have it fixed someday...maybe.
We don't do our banking or anything requiring a credit card on it though, it was just for photos and stuff, but my daughter gave me an old laptop that I use only for storage. It's never online. And I'm currently just using a plain old cheapie laptop for browsing the net. It used to be Jeff's.
We did just fine back before computers were a normal household thing, and we will do just fine if it comes to not having the internet any longer...Heck, we barely have it now, lol!
It is easier for those of us living in rural or forested areas though to have the ability to disconnect, than for many others who are city dwellers....all we really need is a patch of ground, and the know how.

    1. Oh dear! I hope this isn't going to be a continual problem, Lisa!

Yes, we can manage without them. Maybe I've become to accustom to keeping track of my banking transactions via the credit union's site. It is easier though. I remember when it took me the better part of a morning to sit down with the statement and balance the books. That's the trouble! We get used to the convenience. Good to hear from you again!
