Good Friday

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
~John 3:16~

Hello dear friends!  Just an update on how my seeds that I started earlier this month are doing.  Here's a picture:
As you can see, they are all growing into beautiful tall plants.  Does it pay to start your own?  Well,  since I save most of my seeds, the only ones I needed to buy were for celery, cauliflower, broccoli and onions for a grand total of less than $16.  And as you can see, I have over 200 beautiful plants growing here.  How many garden plants can you buy for $16?  And what varieties are available?  So yes, it is well worth the effort to start your own plants, even if it means you have to live with an extra table crowding your space. :)

On another note, as you may have noticed, I haven't been about as much as I used to be.  I'm trying to cut back on the time I spend on the computer.  I hope you will understand if I do not comment as often on your blogs  as I did before.  Doesn't mean I don't still appreciate your writing!  I intend to write only once a month from here on out.  Hopefully, the posts will be more interesting and filled with information on thrift for you that way.  So I hope to see you here on May 1st, Lord willing and the creek don't rise!  May you all have a joy-filled and blessed Resurrection  Day!

Hugs
Jane

  1. Hi Jane! Happy Easter to you! I was thinking of how there is more time to spend on the computer/blogs in the winter. I know you are going to be very busy soon planting those plants! Plus you are always busy canning, etc. Your plants look beautiful and healthy! hugs, Andrea

    1. Hello Andrea! Yes, I spend entirely too much time on the computer in Winter, when the time could be put to better uses. Going through a creative stage right now. Ever since Ran doctored me with the right combination of vitamins, I have so much more energy. If this is how normal people feel every day, life is indeed good! Are you having family for Easter?

    2. Hi! yes it certainly makes a difference when you feel well. You are probably doing a whirlwind of activity now. Just my youngest is home from college and we are visiting my sister here. I'm just trying to encourage my kids to travel here when it is a bit warmer so we can do more. Hugs, Andrea

  9. I think many of us feel that being 'online' soaks up time we should spend in other ways. On the other hand, when favorite bloggers fade away or go to social media I miss the posts.
Spring and summer are busy times for those of us who live in the country or get into serious gardening. Maybe in the fall you'll have more time for blogging.

  10. Well done on the baby plants. Working on starting a new garden. Lots of sod to dig up, but it is flat land. Thankfully there is a house being built next door so the workers dumped some loose soil on the garden. What a blessing!

  16. Your little plants are looking great! I can't wait until I am in a position to grow my own starts again. For now, I've got a few things direct-seeded into the garden and a few are up. That's a relief, since it started pouring rain right after I got them in and I was concerned they had rotted. I did plant 6 cabbages and 6 broccolis from the farm store, along with some little onion plants.

Now, I'm hoping for a break in the weather so it will dry out enough to weed!
    Have a great week.

I would love to take them with us when we move, instead of selling them! We are having to be patient waiting to move, until Ken finds a job in the area (we were not aware of that rule before, and had planned on his staying here until he could transfer!). 57. Jane, I love your blog. Still, there are seasons of life for everything. If you feel that blogging is not in your "season" right now, then it shouldn't be. If you every feel like starting up again, go for it. (And let me know you did, so I can read!)

It looks like Ran got the garden tilled really well. I'm excited for you. Yea! Only the small portion Rob tilled up a while back is done on mine. The early stuff is in, has come up, but it has been raining like crazy. One day I did hoe, last week, but that's the only time it was dry enough. Then, yesterday and today, we got really warm (for us) weather and we feel like we are going to die:) It is starting to dry out. But, he had to work today, and had a procedure on his back yesterday that stops him from taking advantage of these 2 days of good weather. Tomorrow, the temps are supposed to plunge 20 degrees and rain again. So, it goes. I know it will dry out and I will till, plant and hoe. Seasons. They come and go.

I know it's hard, but "hoeing" out the negativity is the best way, in whatever fashion works best for you. Maybe a time of concentrating on your home, family, garden, crafts and handiwork---whatever makes you happy is what you need right now. I'm sure your family will be blessed by your love and care. Hang in there! You are a special person.

  60. Well, since I cannot comment on your very last post, I will comment here. I cried when I read your last post because I have enjoyed ALL of them so much. I read every one of your back posts. I thoroughly understand why you feel the need to move on. I had an abusive childhood, too, from my mother. Any negative comment to this day I take personally. It's not something I can help; it's just in my makeup. But, as you said, His eye is on the sparrow so I know He watches me. I pray that the rest of your entire life is filled to the brim with love, laughter, happiness and peace. I will pray for you each time I think of you. Each of your posts helped me in some way. Thank you for that. Much love, Cate <>< P.S. If you ever want to chat, you have my email address.

    1. Hello Cate! I'm not sure that I do have your email address but here's mine: janezempel@yahoo.com. A while ago my computer crashed and I had to start all over again from scratch. Lost my email address book and all my bookmarks. We abused have to stick together. Yesterday I was having a conversation with a friend and she was asking me if I was ever going to talk to my sisters again. When I said no, she tried to compare it to a family feud her mother had with her uncle about some furniture. They never talked to each other for 20 years but eventually reunited. She simply couldn't understand that a tiff about furniture is not the same as being abused. And that there might be a reason why it is better to forgive but stay distant. Anyhow, sorry you had to go through it. It certainly changes a person's perspective on life and especially on trusting others. That is why I am so honored that you trusted me enough to confide in me.

Extra large hugs for being brave!

      Jane

  61. Hi Jane! I didn't realize people were still commenting here! I had to look up your good old technique of slitting the miracle grow soil bags and planting lettuce...such a great idea! Wow time flies! I can't believe how long you've been away from posting. But good for you! We all need to do that. I have quit and started up again 6 times! Ones of these times I will quit for good and lead a more reclusive life! like the olden days! ha. Hugs, Andrea

  62. I am so very sorry for the past abuse , don't let it ruin life for you. I too was abused for many years first by my folks and then my first husband.
I was wondering what is the item made of wood where you are learning a new skill and it has the twine? My name is Janet the address is hubby's but life goes on after abuse and yes we all have the PTSD from the years of it. Toxic people now get zero room in my life.

    1. Hello Janet! So sorry for the delay in answering your comment. I never look at my blog and I didn't realize that Blogger no longer sends e-mail alerts when a comment is left.

Yes, through the grace of God, time heals all wounds. I can finally say that I have reached the point where the pain has subsided. It is remarkably liberating. I pray that you may be healed too. Thank you for sharing. Sometimes it helps to now that you are not the only one, you know?

The new skill was learning to weave rush seats for antique chairs. Boy is it hard on the hands!

Hope you are having a lovely summer. Today I awoke to a hint of autumn. Blissful!

      Hugs
      Jane
